Pooh-related Sites -- Must See
The following are Pooh sites around the web that I feel are deserving of
some special notice. These are the sites that offer the best in
their respective areas, and for beginners, should be the first places
they visit. Of course, this is only my opinion, and there are still many
other Pooh sites on the web to visit (see all my other Other Pooh Sites
pages). Here they are:
- The Page
at Pooh Corner
- My own Pooh site on the web. Most of you probably got to this page
through my own web site, but the access logs tell me that more and more
people are going straight to my Other Sites pages, so I'm here to tell
you to turn around and look through my stuff! Seriously, I've amassed a
large amount of information, including biographical information about A.
A. Milne, Christopher Milne, and E. H. Shepard, as well as some other
information to fulfill your Pooh trivia needs.
- Winnie the Pooh and An
Expotition to a Wonderful Place
- Wow. That's about the best description I can offer of this site.
Katie Prunka has put together a site that will make you remember all the
best about Pooh. Designed for kids (after all, Katie is just in her
teens as well...), this site is really for fans of all ages who want to
feel like a kid again.
- An
Enchanted Page
- Definately an original. David Sherrod has created a site that fits
in wonderfully with A. A. Milne's literary style. He's invited the
public to use his web site as a public bulletin board, posting original
artwork and literary works. He's also got a large collection of trivia
questions over each chapter of Winnie-the-Pooh and an exhaustive
list of Pooh sites that puts even my collection to shame.
- Winnie the Pooh and
Tigger Too!
- If you want variety out of a web page, then visit this one. Bill
Earles has dedicated this one to his wife, but blesses us all by his
efforts. You've got pictures floating throughout the site, music files,
links to other great pages (and Bill also maintains the Just for Kids
page, a Best Of page of sites created by kids for kids!), and the
Pooh-Tig Forum. This is like a minuture newsgroup, where people can mail
in their questions or respond with the answers to other letters there.
It's a pretty neat concept, and having relied on it once or twice, very
handy to have.
- Virtual Pooh
Sticks
- Graham Simms originally created a game in which people could play
Poohsticks over email. Since those humble beginnings, he's created a web
page interface, to allow people to view previous games, check out their
stats, and edit their information. Very handy, very fun. For those of
you who don't really know what Poohsticks is, read the books again. To
find out what Virtual Pooh Sticks is like, check out this game from an older server, or visit this
site and check out games 34 or 121. (My handle is Clumsy, and these
are the games I've managed to win so far.) It's incredibly easy to play,
and it's a neat way to meet other Pooh fans.
- Pooh's
Yellow Pages
- This site is all links, and is the best compilation of Pooh sites on
the Internet that I can find currently. A lot of work has gone into
organizing the links into different catagories, to help people find
exactly what they're looking for. Very thorough and easy to use.
- alt.fan.pooh
- The newsgroup devoted to discussions about this Silly Old Bear. If
you've got a need to talk about Pooh and the gang, drop by in here.
Questions to ask? Need to know how to find that Pooh watch, or the
bedsheets, or wondering if other people think that the Disney Pooh is
better than classic Pooh? (Classic Pooh...no contest) Drop on by!
There's always a steady stream of posts, and we're always happy to see
new visitors!
